John 5:19-20 “Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. “the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing”

Yes, this is the same scripture as yesterday… We’re just not finished yet 🙂

The phrase; “…the father loves the son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing” just messes with my mind in a great way.

Do you hear it? It’s because the Father loves him that he shows him everything He’s doing. Within the context of this beautiful symbiotic relationship between Father and Son, the Son is welcomed into all of His Father’s activities. He’s invited to join Him in all He does.

I think some of us can become so task oriented that we miss the heart of the Kingdom all together. We can get caught up in wanting to make sure we’re doing the right things, so we ask the Lord to lead us, to show us what He’s doing, and let us please join in with Him. I think these are fine prayers, but what I’m seeing in this sentence is so much greater.

It’s Father and Son in intimate union, moving together out of their love for each other. Because of the Fathers overwhelming love, He desires to share all things with His Son.

It’s not about making sure we’re doing the right things. It’s not labor oriented, it’s organically, relationally oriented.

Can you hear it? It was God’s idea to show His son everything He was doing. He desires His son to be a part!

1 Corinthians 1:30 “But by His doing, you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption (emphasis mine)

We are In Christ. Christ is In us. When the Father sees us, He sees us as one with His Son.

We are requested, invited, desired by God to join Him in all He does.

So instead of begging God to show you things, and desperately hope that He’s leading you, you can simply know that out of His great love, it’s His greatest pleasure to include you in His Life,
to have you join in His day….
to fill you in on what He’s doing….
We’re not just co-laborers with Christ.

We’re a part of the the family.
